DOT Weekend walks comes to cobble hill this summer!
The Court Smith BID Formation Effort is partnering with The Atlantic Avenue BID to host one of this summer’s Weekend Walks. Streets come alive in a new way thanks to the City of NY and the Weekend Walks program.
Date: Thursday, June 21, 2018
Location: Court Street between Atlantic Avenue and Wyckoff Street Time: 5pm - 9pm (on Court Street); all day on Atlantic Avenue and side streets.
While it’s not an actual “weekend walk” we will be celebrating the summer solstice and combining our fun with the June 21st Make Music New York festival. Make Music NY is in its 12th year and is billed as the largest music event ever to grace Gotham” (Metro New York).
There will be over a 1,000 free concerts in public spaces, all over the five boroughs on that day, and our piece of Brooklyn will be participating this year.
How your business can participate:
Crafts and entertainment for kids: During the event, lead a craft, fitness, or music demo that lasts 45 minutes (or fewer) and serves at least 50 children. We can offer a small stipend to your business to cover the cost of materials.
Demos for adults: During the block party, lead a fitness or demo for adults that lasts 45 minutes or fewer.
Food: Offer a taste test or lead an eating contest. (This will require submission of documents / certification from the Department of Health or the State Liquor Authority.) We can offer a small stipend to your business to cover the cost of supplies.
Other ideas: Let us know if you have an idea for something that contributes to the concept of the event!
Restrictions: This event is partially funded by the City; they stipulate that no money can be transacted at the event--nothing can be bought or sold. You can, however, inform members of the public about your goods and services, and invite them back to your store to conduct sales there.
